Thai utility Ratchaburi to boost capacity by 48 pct in next decade

BANGKOK, Feb 18 (Reuters) - Thailand's Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Pcl said on Tuesday it planned to raise its electricity generating capacity by 48 percent to 9,700 megawatts (MW) by 2023 as part of its 10-year business expansion.

The country's largest private power producer is considering investing in five power projects, including two solar farms in Japan, a 300-MW coal-fired power plant in Myanmar and solar and wind projects in Australia, it said in a statement.

Ratchaburi, 45 percent owned by state-run Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, aims to boost the value of its business to 280 billion baht ($8.68 billion)in the next decade from 116 billion baht now.
