S.Korea's Samsung Engineering wins $441 mln power plant order in Chile

SEOUL, Jan 23 (Reuters) - Samsung Engineering Co Ltd

028050.KS said on Thursday it won a $441 million order to build a power plant in Chile from a consortium of Korea Southern Power Co Ltd (KOSPO) Href="NewsSearch">KEPCOS.UL and Samsung C&T Corp

000830.KS .

The KOSPO-Samsung C&T consortium won the original order for the power plant from BHP Billiton's BHP.AX Chile unit in November 2013, the engineering firm said in a statement.

The power plant, with a production capacity of 517 megawatts, is expected to be completed in 2016 to provide electricity for a BHP Billiton copper mine.

Samsung C&T and Samsung Engineering are affiliates that are both part of Samsung Group SAGR.UL .
