BRIEF-Asciano Ltd announces damage of equipment meant for Port Botany project

Feb 6 (Reuters) - Asciano Ltd AIO.AX :

* Informed by supplier of AutoStrad equipment for Port Botany redevelopment project, that majority of AutoStrad equipment manufactured for project has sustained some damage during transportation by sea to Australia from Europe

* Damage due to a significant storm encountered by the carrier enroute

* Full extent of damage is currently unknown and will be assessed by supplier over next few weeks following unloading in Brisbane

* Says there is likely to be a delay in the current target launch date of mid 2014
