* Says Anglo American Platinum receives notice of intention to strike from AMCU

* Union's intention to embark on a legal strike with effect from Thursday, 23

January 2014.

* Remains in negotiations with the national union of metalworkers of South

Africa (NUMSA)

* Will continue to engage with the unions in an effort to avert a protracted

strike

* Strike will increase the possibility of further job losses
