It was a very quiet day in the markets on Thursday, with the precious metals group finishing mixed. Gold ended modestly higher on the day before losing some ground in late-day trading. Silver gained 5 cents on the COMEX close, but then proceeded to sell off in late-day trading and is currently off by some 20 cents/ounce. There were minor losses in platinum and palladium.
