Gold prices lost ground on Tuesday, as we had yet another extremely whippy session in practically all the markets. Gold itself fluctuated within a $30 range -- opening higher, selling off sharply, but then paring losses by the close. The rest of the group did not fare that well either, with silver shedding more than a $1/ounce at one point, while platinum and palladium also lost substantial ground. Base metals finished lower on China-related growth concerns.
